Welcome to Went to That. This is where you’ll find what it was like to go to specific sporting events chosen more or less at random by some late-20’s white guy who likes sports too much but can usually find someone to drag along. Sometimes, we’ll go to intense, big-time playoff games, other times we’ll be visiting a late-April Yankees-Rockies Interleague game during which nobody is paying attention and you’d have to be 5 beers deep to put up with it because it’s really damn cold in the Bronx before May. What you see is what you get.
While there are other sites that go really deep into reviewing the amenities and surrounding areas of each venue (StadiumJourney does this in an impressively comprehensive fashion), this will be more of an overview of what it was actually like to be there: the crowd, the vibe, surprise celebrity appearances (A-F list) and any other interesting stuff that happens (like that one time Slick Rick performed at halftime at a Knicks-Nets game and it was like watching a washed-up wrestler get the crap kicked out of him).
Also, I get my tickets on the secondary market (specifically StubHub) most of the time, so I’ll also be providing a comprehensive breakdown of precisely how much money I wasted on sitting close to the court for a depressing Nets-Timberwolves game in January and how much more or less it cost than buying them from the team.
Enjoy the journey and let me know what you think in the comments section (I think there’s a comments section, this is my first real website and I’m still figuring out how it works).
Welcome to Went To That. Go to a game soon.
